| October 21, 2001 Greg Krush FAMILY STATUS: Single, no children, no pets. Just Greg. AGE: 40. NICKNAME: Krusher.
OCCUPATION: Tree farmer. WHERE YOU BEEN: Born in Cambridge, Vt., and moved to Colorado in 1974. Went to high school in Eaton and became a dairy farmer than a tree farmer northeast of Fort Collins. ADVENTURES: Has found adventures on five continents and 20 countries, including trekking in Nepal. Backcountry skis at least 40 days a year, whitewater rafts, climbs 14ers and on each year on the first Wednesday in June he makes his final turns on Diamond Peak naked. What prompted the naked skiing thing? I just thought it was a good end to the ski season and a good welcome to the summer. Last year we had four people do it. Same sex? No. We had three guys and one woman. What part of your body gets the coldest when ski naked and take a spill? You don't fall. A friend of mine said it was in inspiration to becoming a better telemark skiing because you don't want to fall. Have you done other outdoor activities naked? I've hiked, backpacked and floated a river naked. Do people think you're a pervert? I'm very discreet about it. I'm not there to freak people out. It just feels good. Why did you trade dairy cattle for trees? I couldn't adventure with dairy cows. (For you non-farmers, you have to milk them morning and night.) Tree farming keeps my winters free and gives me a lot more flexibility to be a bum. What's your main passion? Backcountry skiing and seeing new places and new cultures. Do you like to get out alone or go with others? I prefer to do stuff with people but finding people as flexibile as I am is hard and I'm not going to stay home because I can't find somebody to go. What is the most unique culture you've experienced? Probably Nepal. The Hindus and Buddhists and the Muslims and Christians all get along. Where is your favorite place to backcountry skiing? Cameron Pass. Any fear of avalanches? I don't have a fear of avalanches I have a healthy respect for them. That's why I don't ski the Diamond until May. The Diamond and Seven Utes are probably the only places up by Cameron where you have to worry about avalanche. Ever been caught in an avalanche? I've been caught in some slough and have ridden a snow slide but I've never been in an avalanche. What's your favorite beverage? Fat Tire. Where is one place in the world you haven't been but would like to go? New Zealand. What is something about you that most people don't know? I pretty much don't hold much back. I guess, most people don't know I owned a dairy farm. Turnons and turnoffs? Turnoffs is dogs off leash. Turnon is 2 feet of powder. What would you say to motivate people to get outdoors? This is no dress rehearsal for the next life, so just go out and do it. Final thoughts? I tell everybody to quit their job and get a life. Do you know of someone who is an adventurous type who we could feature in our Q&A section?
