Arapahoe Basin popular with hard-core skiers
A-Basin fans know this 13,050 foot elevation is the highest skiable terrain in N. America. Located two-and-one-half hours from Fort Collins (132 miles). Arapahoe is open mid-November through June and you can use your Keystone or Breckenridge lift tickets at A-Basin.

A-Basin's Signature Historic Tours provide on-mountain signage that explains the stories behind trail names. The beginner's tour explains the difficulty of logging on the Continental Divide. The intermediate trail retells the tail of a local prospector and the advanced trail of a historic race down one of the slopes.
Vital statistics: The vertical rise is 2,250 feet with 490 skiable acres, 5 lifts and 61 trails. They claim an average snowfall of 367 inches per year. Special facilities include a nursery, ski check and demonstration center. Their High Adventure Series features Chris Anthony adventure camps and the avalanche school concentrates on technical skills as well as "fun and attitude." Classes in extreme skiing are held regularly.
Contact and snow-report phone number is 1-888-ARAPAHOE.
