Powderhorn a playground for westerners
   More a West Slope playground than fodder for us Front Rangers, Powderhorn Resort visitors often ski in the morning and play golf in Grand Junction in the afternoon.
    Located five hours and 290 miles from Fort Collins, Powderhorn offers plenty of snow sports for winter enthusiasts. Downhill, cross-country, snowshoe and snowboard trails are all available on the 510 acre resort.
    Vital statistics: The vertical rise is 1,650 feet with 500 skiable acres, 4 lifts and 27 trails. They claim an average showfall of 250 inches. Special facilities include a pay-to-race course, terrain park and kids area. Season is December 7 to April 1.
